A graft, also known as a hair follicle, refers to an area that contains a small amount of skin along with hair roots. A
graft typically contains around 2-3 hair strands. For example, 4000 grafts would mean 6000-8000 hair follicles.
In a hair transplant procedure, grafts are taken from the donor area, which is the region located behind the ears and
genetically resistant to hair loss, known as the occipital area.
The length of grafting, which refers to the placement of hair follicles in recipient sites, should be accurately adjusted.
If the graft is placed too deeply, it can result in depressions in the transplanted hair follicles, whereas if it is placed
too superficially, it can create protrusions. Both outcomes undermine the natural appearance of the transplantation.
